Suppliers

We require high-performance, innovative suppliers of commodities and services and wish to enter into a long term cooperation with them based on openness and fairness. We respect our suppliers as independent companies and actively work on supplier development. We expect special performance regarding the reliability and quality of the deliveries and the cost structure.

MAT Foundries Europe GmbH provides the appropriate amount of support in the development of management systems for suppliers whose materials are subject to mandatory tests, for main service providers and pattern makers. The first step in this process is the development of systems concerning fulfilment of the requirements of the current DIN standard.

Instruments used in supplier development are audits and regular supplier and quality discussions during which MAT Foundries Europe GmbH, among other topics discussed, determines the internal and external development objectives with the supplier and, where necessary, comes to agreements regarding corrective measures.  The basis for this process is the supplier assessment. On the one hand, through laying down specially selected assessment criteria, this enables us to examine our suppliers’ performances on a regular basis and one the other hand, it gives the supplier concrete information about points where there is potential for improvement. One important aspect here is to allow us, besides our own expertise, to gain greater access to the ideas and in-depth knowledge of our suppliers.

For this reason we attempt to involve our suppliers – as far as possible – in our product and process optimisation processes. The objective of improving the logistics is just as clear as the objective to fullfil the latest environmental standards or develop the latest technology and techniques.

Important factors in our supplier relationships are:

  • Early involvement of the suppliers in the product development
  • Open and frequent exchanging of information
  • Win-win relationship
  • Stable long-term business relationship
  • Security of supply from our suppliers (taking on stock-keeping, supply contracts, framework contracts ...)
  • Quality and environmental certification of the suppliers
